Welcome to Children’s Faith Formation!

The St. Joseph Children’s Faith Formation Program works in partnership with parents to help form children along their faith journey. It is important that parents understand their primary vocation as catechists to their children as defined by the Catholic Church. Children first experience their Catholic faith at home with their family. The Children’s Faith Formation program is here to assist you. We offer faith formation classes beginning at 3 years of age through the 5th grade along with preparation for 1st Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

Preschool program – ages 3 through kindergarten—is offered Sunday mornings only. Children must be 3 years of age by August 31 of the current year to enroll. Children enjoy learning about their faith through bible stories, games, music and crafts. Basic prayers, Saints and holydays are highlighted.

Elementary program -- grades 1--5 – is offered both Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. Children continue to build their relationship with God by attending faith formation classes and regular attendance at Mass. “Be My Disciples” texts are used in class. “Be My Disciples is an innovative and complete religious education program that empowers students and their families to answer the call to discipleship. This program will lead children and their families to grow in their conversion to Jesus Christ, to develop the habits of discipleship, and to decide each day to choose life in Christ.”

Sacramental Preparation – Per Diocesan guidelines, children should receive two consecutive years of catechesis and sacramental preparation before receiving any sacraments. Traditionally here at St. Joseph, children (who are baptized) begin their preparation for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Holy Communion in the 1st grade and receive their sacraments in the 2nd grade. Students who have not received Holy Communion by the 2nd grade will be placed in an appropriate sacramental class. Parents are required to attend parent meetings and two Saturday workshops. Please call our office for information should you need baptism for a child over the age of 7.  To schedule a baptism for a child under the age of 7 please call the main office.

Nursery—is available during the 8:45am and 10:30am masses for children 6 months to 3 years old.

VBX—Vacation Bible Experience is a one week summer program offered for children ages 4 through the 5th grade. Traditionally held the 2nd week in June. Adult and youth volunteers staff this program.
